DAY 2 - Cycling the Island of Brac; 30 km, extra ride 48 km

After a leisurely ferry cruise you arrive to the largest island of the central Dalmatian group of islands, the third largest among the Adriatic islands ‐ Brac. The island is rich with historic sites dating back to Ancient Greece, Middle Ages and of course modern times. Today, there are twenty‐odd settlements on the island. You will bike to Sutivan, a fishing settlement on the northern coast of Brac. After Sutivan there is a climb and you pass through the picturesque village of Lozisca. Continue riding through the settlements in the interior, which are older and richer in cultural and historical monuments and much more interesting architecturally than the coastal ones. Passing through Nerezisca and Donji Humac, just before the last downhill to Supetar, we suggest a lunch break in a konoba which still makes traditional Mediterranean cuisine. If you are interested in art, we will suggest a couple of galleries and workshops, where you can see the stone masons working and see their sculptures…If you want to extend your ride, go for a coffee in Milna village, and see the beautiful naturally protected bay full of boats and yachts.
Highlights: island Brac, Supetar, coastal ride and towns, ancient inland villages, wine cellar, art galleries

DAY 3 - More Brac Cycling Eastern Shores; 36 km, extra ride 70km

Today we suggest a ride to the east side of the island. Ride to Splitska, following a quieter road along the scenic north‐east coast... You'll have views across to the mainland throughout the ride. Stop in the town of Skrip, the oldest settlement on the island. After the visit to The Island Museum, pedal to Postira, a fishing village and Lovrecina, sandy beach with ruins of a large early Christian basilica assigned to the 5th century. This might be a good swim break. Then, continue to Pucisca, a charming little town well known for its stone quarries from where are cut the precious white stone which was used to build Diocletian’s Palace in Split and The White House in Washington. You might wish to enter one of the oldest Stone Cutting Schools in Europe and see students carving in the same way as their well known ancestors.
Highlights: beaches, coastal ride, fisherman villages, stone cutting school, Pucisca

DAY 4: Cycling Vidova Gora, Bol, and Zlatni Rat Beach; 37-50 km

Your route and goal today is to reach the island’s summit, Vidova Gora. This lookout is known as the summit of the Adriatic and offers some spectacular views. The highest peak of all Adriatic islands – Vidova Gora (778meters), from where you will have a breathless view on the slopes of the south side of the island, the town of Bol and the famous beach Golden Cape (Zlatni rat) as well as on the islands of Central Dalmatia. With high visibility even the Italian coast may be seen. Vidova gora hides many wonders of nature: from the dense forest of authentic black pine trees and its rich herbal and animal world to numerous caves and pits. There is an easier option if you don’t feel like riding to highest point of the island. Continue with biking to Gornji Humac, where you should try some of original islands specialties, before having a great downhill to Bol, the oldest coastal town on the island Brac. Bol didn't take the usual position like other coastal towns in the amphitheatrically slopes of the protected bays, but it stands alone and separated on the southern, open part of the island, with the beaches connected like a necklace of pearls. You might wish to check the famous pebble beach Zlatni rat, one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia.
Highlights: Zlatni rat beach in Bol, Vidova Gora ‐ highest point of all Adriatic islands

DAY 5 - Lavender and Coastal Roads of Hvar; 30-45 km

Today you take a privately owned boat to cross the Hvar channel to the fishermen's village of Jelsa, island Hvar. Cycling on the island Hvar you will be passing among lavender fields, olive groves, and vineyards. You will be riding along the scenic and mostly flat road on the north side of the island, and passing Jelsa, Vrboska, reaching Stari Grad (literally Old Town) which is actually the oldest settlement on the island and one of the first ones in Europe, founded by the Ancient Greeks (Pharos). After a few warm up miles, a challenging uphill climb waits for you, passing rosemary and lavender fields and ancient Greek walls. Enjoy the beautiful view from the top of the island before a great downhill to Hvar. Tonight you sleep in the town of Hvar.
Highlights: island Hvar, Jelsa, Vrboska, Stari Grad, lavender fields, town Hvar. PLEASE NOTE: the transfer from BOL TO JELSA (BRAC TO HVAR) today is done by a smaller excursion boat, weather permitting. In case of rough seas, the transfer will not happen, for safety reasons, but you will be transferred by alternate means.
