Here it is, the first Haute Route challenge on American soil and it visits the mountain mountain mecca that is the state of Colorado for a bucket list adventure exclusively for amateur cyclists of the highest level. The Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 will feature an unforgettable combination of jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking climbs. The event offers committed amateur riders the opportunity to compete with a professional level of off-the-bike support unprecedented in US amateur cycling. You can buy your participation directly from Haute Route and do the rest on your own, or you can get your race and everything else from one of America's premier cycling tour operators based in the Southwestern USA in AOA-Pure Adventures. We are adding in the necessary lodging at a deluxe level, providing a highly skilled support team and making every detail a non-issue for our participants so you can focus only on the riding and having the time of your life! Competitors face seven timed and ranked stages covering 875km (550 miles) and in excess of 16,000 vertical metres (52,500 feet) of climbing on some of Colorado’s best known mountain roads, many soaring above 3,000m in altitude (10,000 feet). The route is not officially released as of August 31st, 2016, but the organizer has promised around 15% of unpaved routes to add to the challenge! Participants will benefit from full mechanical assistance from the event’s Title Partner Mavic – and all the race inclusions offer as well as all added support, logisitics, lodging, nutrition, transportation, and expertise of a top tour operator. This is a once in a lifetime experience, don't miss it! Only 600 people will participate!

June 23 – Arrive in Denver, Transfer to Boulder

June 23 – Arrive in Denver, Transfer to Boulder

Today we meet our deluxe hotel in Boulder, the St Julien Hotel & Spa! We will meet at 2pm for introductions, quick orientation, and then a trip to the race village to pickup numbers and race information. We will have a more complete briefing, and then dinner together tonight that will be in consideration of your first stage on the bike tomorrow. Our team will help build up bikes, or if you are renting, get you set up and dialed in on our high performance machines so you have nothing to do in the morning except get ready to ride. Note: Accommodations are shared. Solo travelers will be paired up with other same-gender participants. Single supplements are subject to total participation and room availability.

June 24 – Stage 1 Boulder to Boulder

June 24 – Stage 1 Boulder to Boulder

Rise and shine - we will have a race ready breakfast and snacks for you to prepare for this first stage. We will either ride to the stage start or load up and be transported to the race village and start area. Our team will get all participants to the line and pre-stage meetings as necessary and will then leave you on the course to ride at your pace. Our team will be on the course for private nutritional support as well. At the end of the stage, we will have our own private cool down station for you to enjoy or you can wander the race village as well and take advantage or services and goodies on offer. We will transport our group back to the St Julien tonight for a hardy dinner and rest.

Course details: coming soon once they are released by event organizers.

June 25 – Stage 2 Boulder to Winter Park

June 25 – Stage 2 Boulder to Winter Park

Leaving Boulder today, the race will at some point early on begin to climb as you make your way to the ski town of Winter Park just the first of several ski towns to make this tour a challenge! As yesterday, our team will be there to get your day started and get you to the village and start line as needed. We will be on course and at the finish for your private support group in addition to what Mavic and the event include. In Winter Park tonight, we will again have a hardy meal and you can enjoy a good night's sleep at the Alpenglo Lodge.

June 26 – Stage 3 Winter Park to Avon

June 26 – Stage 3 Winter Park to Avon

Waking up at even higher altitude today, you just keep climbing! Start off with a good breakfast that we look after and then prepare to ride to Avon on the other side of Vail pass and down the mountain a little ways from Vail. We know the stage will be big, and we know that you are starting to feel the road in your legs, so we are there to support with nutrition, water, and encouragement. We'll be there at stage finish to whisk you into our space and later to our very comfortable lodging at the Westin Riverfront Hotel & Spa. Private massages available if booked in advance, and we can make those arrangements for you. Keep those legs fresh, you've barely started!

June 27 – Stage 4 Avon to Avon TT

June 27 – Stage 4 Avon to Avon TT

Just a little more sleep this morning as there is no bag to repack and perhaps a slightly shorter stage today! Enjoy a good breakfast and then rest in preparation for the event's only time trial. If Vail Pass wasn't on the route yesterday, it will probably appear today! We will support our riders at the village stage start and finish today as you come through 1 x 1 and then let you go back to the hotel and spa to rest or have massage. If you have the desire, you can take time to visit or do what you want, we expect you to have a little down time for yourself before dinner.

June 28 – Stage 5 Avon to Snowmass

June 28 – Stage 5 Avon to Snowmass

Another big stage with a finish climb to remember! Snowmass village sits higher up on the mountain and after a long day in the saddle, you will need some reserve to make a hard push and hang on to the finish this afternoon in the village. Once there, you can rest in peace of the cool, clean mountain air with views over the mountains to east - those you have already conquered! Dinner and night in town at the Stonebridge Inn, right in the heart of everything! As this is Snowmass, we may be lucky enough to have some evening festivities and outdoor music before turning in.

June 29 - Stage 6 Snowmass to Crested Butte

June 29 - Stage 6 Snowmass to Crested Butte

What will the race throw your way today?! Until we know the course we can only guess, but what we know for sure is that some very big mountains stand in your way! First on the descent from Snowmass you will have some time to settle in with some good road miles over spectacular countryside. Enjoy the view, it just gets better! The finish in the 'cul de sac' ski town of Crested Butte means a very high finish as the town sits at 9000ft and the mountain resort is just a bit higher, up the road. At the end of this stage we will rest for a little bit but then get you to change into casual clothes to make a short van trip to Buena Vista, CO. We will have lots of recovery product available and keep you hydrated and fed with an excellent dinner tonight. In Buena Vista we are positioned well for the next day's stage start and you will appreciate our support tremendously today as you will not be lumped into a motor coach making a similar journey. Rest well at the Surf Chateau in BV before tomorrow's final stage!

June 30 - Stage 7 Finish in Colorado Springs

June 30 - Stage 7 Finish in Colorado Springs

Final Stage! Your legs, nay, your whole body will be grateful to see the buildings and finish line of Colorado Springs today. You made it, and no matter your time, you will no doubt remember this week for the rest of your life!

Our team is planning to meet the logistical requirements of the day to transport you to the stage start, support you on this last stage, and meet you at the finish. Tonight, we have an historic hotel awaiting in the Mining Exchange and you can indulge a little more with a celebratory dinner in honor of all our guests and participants!

Day 9 - Departure

Day 9 - Departure

Departure Day. We say goodbye today. If you flew into Denver and have a return flight, we will make a group transfer to Denver airport departing mid-morning which should allow for flights after 2pm from Denver. If you need to leave at another time, we can help you with arrangements.
