Portugal – Obidos Heritage and Coastal 6 Nights Cycling

Portugal by bike, cycling from Obidos to Lisbon by the coastStart this tour right in the most beautiful Medieval Town of Portugal - Obidos. Originally a Roman village, it was taken from the Moors in 1148. Its castle is classified as a national monument and it is a perfect example of a medieval fortress. Ride to the coast passing a beautiful lagoon with a beautiful beach and discover Peniche Peninsula. You will ride south sometimes along the sea admiring the beautiful view and sometimes inland on a hillier region along agrarian fields with different crops and different colours. On the third day you will arrive and discover Sintra Natural Park and Sierra, ending your day cycling on a constantly up and down along the Sierra. You will pass Monserrate Palace where you can stop and visit the gardens and the fantastic Monserrate Palace. In Sintra village you will have a day off your bike and hike in this amazing scenery going up on the mountain and finding the incredible Moorish Castle dating back to the 8th Century. Last day cycle Sintra Sierra to the top on its mystic environment and time to stop and visit the incredible Franciscan Capuchin Convent with its tiny cells, installed in the rock and lined with cork, a telling example of the humble and austere existence of the Franciscan friars who lived there. Continue riding until you get to the Atlantic Ocean on the westernmost point on the European mainland, the headland of Roca Cape, a promontory rising 150m from the sea. Your tour end with a scenic easy ride along the coast to get to Cascais, a beautiful city by the Ocean.
