Day 1 | Arrival in Stockerau

The best way to start this tour is by coming to Vienna. We suggest an extra night to explore the city a little, then from here, make your way individually to Stockerau (car, train or 18 km by bike). We recommend the train or a taxi for quickest arrival. We can suggest some train departures for you from Vienna. In Stockerau, you take a taxi to the hotel and check in. Day 2 | Ride to Mikulov - 72 km/45 miles

After breakfast we will meet you to do the orientation and bike set up. On the first day of the route you will go through the rolling countryside of Weinviertel (Wine Quarter).
Past the spa town of Laa an der Thaya head it for the Czech Republic entering the country with the view of imposing Mikulov Castle ahead. Mikulov is a small historic town with the tomb of the Dietrichstein family, as well as the synagogue and Jewish Cemetery, where the oldest tombstones date back to 1605.
Overnight in Mikulov, dinner on your own.

Day 3 | Ride to Vranov nad Dyji - 105 km/65 miles

Start the day on a former Iron Curtain path along the Austrian border to get to Znojmo. There you begin your gradual climb through Podyji National Park with its unspoiled nature, beautiful views of the deep, forested river valley, and the last remnant of the Iron Curtain. Another highlight is Vranov Castle, perched high on a rock above the Dyje River. A shorter cycling option (41 km/26 miles) is available, beginning with a car transfer from Mikulov to Znojmo. Overnight in Vranov nad Dyji, dinner on your own. .

Day 4 | Ride to Telc - 78 km/49 miles

From Vranov we skim the Austrian border through the village of Safov with a quaint old Jewish cemetery and along fields dotted by pre-WWII bunkers to Slavonice, a forgotten gem with sgraffito houses.
Then cycle from Slavonice to Telc, which has a well-preserved Renaissance town center listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A shorter cycling option (48km/30miles) is available, taking a train from Slavonice to Telc. Overnight in Telc..

Day 5 | Ride to Jindrichuv Hradec - 43 km/27 miles

Today you will cycle through the Czech/Moravian Highlands, through fields and forests.
A unique stop on the way is the memorial of Jewish painter called
Frantisek Moritz Nagl in Kostelni Myslova. He died in Auschwitz extermination camp in Poland, but loved to paint in the surrounding landscape here. The border areas have a complicated modern history. The destination of today is the old town of Jindrichuv Hradec, containing the-

Day 6 | Ride to Tabor - 50 km/31 miles

First, take in the historic town of Jindrichuv Hradec with its regional museum featuring the largest mechanical nativity scene in the world.
Then start the route leading through a tapestry of woods and ponds to Cervena Lhota, with a beautiful little chateau built on a rocky island in the middle of a pond. Afternoon arrival in Tabor
leaves plenty of time for a tour of this historic town, founded by the Hussites. Overnight in Tabor, dinner on your own.

Day 7 | Ride to Benesov - 70 km/44 miles

From Tabor we ride up and down through a region of highlands, woods, and pastures, an area known as the Czech Siberia for its blustery winter weather and unspoiled environment. The highlight of this day is a visit to the magnificent chateau of Konopiste with its extensive park and Rose Garden. Konopiste was formerly the estate of Franz Ferdinand d’Este, the Austrian crown prince who was assassinated at Sarajevo, touching off World War I. Overnight in Benesov, dinner on your own. .

Day 8 | Ride to Prague and departure day - 41 km/26 miles

The final part of this bicycle tour takes you to Pruhonice with its Renaissance chateau and enormous UNESCO enlisted arboretum, the center of botany and horticulture in the Czech Republic. Transfer by car from Pruhonice to Prague city center. Distance: 41km/26 miles.
