Starting in Sesimbra, a small city by the sea in the Arrabida Natural Park, this is an incredible tour that will take you until the south-westernmost point in continental Europe, crossing two National Parks and an beautiful coastal line with 300km of beautiful beaches, and typical villages.
In Arrabida Natural Park you'll admire beautiful Mediterranean forest and the gorgeous cliff coast line with some stunning beaches of fine sand and clear sea water. You will ride along the coast and cross Sado river by boat, reaching the beautiful sand Troia Peninsula At the end of the second day cycling you will reach SW Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. It extends itself along the Portuguese coast and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean. This SW landscape is 300 million years old and it is one of the most preserved landscapes in all of Europe; human intervention is less visible throughout the areas long history. Once submerged (about 2 million years ago), this is a vast area with many different coastal habitats and countless beaches and cliffs and isolated islets. This area boasts a diversity of rare botanical species, with very interesting flora and a variety of maritime birds that nest here and complete this beautiful and unique scenery. After 3 days riding 150km you will reach Cape S. Vicente, which is the south-westernmost point in continental Europe and a passing area for thousands of birds. Sagres, the place from where the brave Portuguese forefathers sailed on their caravels seeking new peoples and continents, and is where our tour ends.

Level 2-3 : Moderate to Challenging - flat to rolling countryside; average 58 km per day. Approximately 25% of the route is on dirt or unpaved roads. These sections are not technical but can be bumpy and loose.

Arriving from Lisbon or other city, we will transfer you to your first hotel in Sesimbra, a very nice 4 star property. Sesimbra is a small city by the sea in the Arrabida Natural Park and the perfect launching point for this cycling discovery. We come to meet you and deliver the tour bikes, and go over the tour with a short orientation of this scenic coastal bike ride. Night and dinner on your own.

3H30 drive and farewell at Lisbon airport. Note, we can transfer to an Algarve airport in place of Lisbon. OPTION: extend this cycling tour by making this day a ride day to Lagos, approx 45 km with lodging available in Lagos. Contact us for a quote.

Note: road bikes are also available; the BH L41 carbon with Ultegra. However, lots of dirt roads on this trip make the hybrid version/routes the most interesting to access beaches and escape the traffic. Road versions are similar in distance to the above quoted distances, but different routes.
