Day 1: Chiang Mai

Welcome to Thailand! Upon arrival, you will be picked up from Chiang Mai Airport by your local guide. Transfer to the Hotel, check in and freshen up, earn some well-rested sleep at the hotel in Chiang Mai. Tonight, you will enjoy a welcome dinner cruise on the famous Ping River, which provides for a fun and lively atmosphere this evening. Return to the hotel late evening.

Day 2: Chiang Mai

Today’s tour will begin at an early morning. Take a closer look at Chiang Mai’s rich traditions with an early morning tour with monks by following the Thai tradition to make a foods offering at morning market. Set off at first light and drive to tranquil Wat Umong. Dating back to the 14th century, this sacred temple contains a network of mysterious tunnels and caves. We are continuing the journey hiking the monks trail up to Doi Suthep Mountain. This trail was in the old ages only used by the monks walking to up the mountain on their way to Wat Phra That Temple, our end destination of today. From here, we will be rewarded with the best views over Chiang Mai. Enjoy dnner at a lovely restaurant with scenery from Doi Suthep before heading back to your hotel.

Day 3: Chiang Mai – Doi Inthanon

After breakfast you will be picked up to spend a day at Doi Inthanon National Park. Venture away from the buzz of Chiang Mai’s city centre, driving into the hills for a day of trekking through the pristine landscapes of Thailand’s north. The adventure begins with a hike to a Karen hilltribe village. Meet with the locals to discover their traditional ways of life and their unique culture around coffee farming. Be sure to keep your eyes open as the park is teeming with a variety of species including gibbons, deer, wild boar and more than 350 bird species!

Conclude the Doi Inthanon hike at one of the most spectacular sites, the Wachiratharn Waterfall. Be amazed at the stunning 70-metre fall, which crashes into refreshing shallow pools at the base. Rest, relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before returning to town late this afternoon.

Day 4: Chiang Mai – Doi Saket – Chiang Mai

Today we set off to Doi Saket, where many locals have maintained their family’s business or trade. First stop today is Barefoot Café. This cozy restaurant presents an imaginative way of experiencing local produce with a touch of artisan fair. Here you can cook your own local-style pizza. We spend a few hours here before departing for 3 Studios Japanese restaurant, for a menu of daily specials. After lunch, we head to Baan Luang Nuea, Tai Lue Village. Enjoy activities with locals such as designing your very own signature bag by using a local wisdom of Tai Lue. Cook together with locals and experience the dining with the warmest atmosphere. By evening, we head back to the city and try some Thai cocktails at Nophaburi Bar.

Day 5: Chaing Mai – Mae Rim

Check out from the hotel in town and begin today’s journey by transfer to the stunning 60m high Mork Fah Waterfall. We will do a short hike along the trails before we start pedaling towards the undulating southern roads, riding through local communities on small roads before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. We then follow the Mae Rim River until we hit the main road. Continuing on, we cycle to the resort which is located in the middle of jungle, where we can relax and enjoy the amazing waterfall during a specially prepared dinner.

Day 6: Mae Rim – Mae Taeng

This morning we start early, driving the picturesque road bordering Sri Lanna National Park to Buatong Waterfall. From there, we ride through the beautiful Sri Lanna National Park, crossing various plantations, rice fields and forests, before arriving at the Mae Ngat Dam before lunch. Leave the bikes, change gear and hop into the water for a refreshing dip! Next we take a 20 minutes boat transfer to the floating restaurant in the dam and start enjoy a delicious local lunch. In the early afternoon, we paddle the lake in sit-on-top kayaks or you can opt to just relax and have a swim in the lake.

Day 7: Mae Taeng

Our day starts when you get picked up from the hotel by 4x4 and we visit the local Mae Malai market. Your guide will take you around the market and show you a variety of different fruits & vegetables that you probably have never seen before! Next, we visit the remote village of Baan Thong Youa, the starting point of our trek. Hike through the jungle while getting local knowledge from your guide, passing different cultural Hill tribes living in the area. Lunch will be eaten along the way in natural settings. After a 2.5-hour trek, we reach a village called Baang Phong Ngan, a village inhabited by the Lahu Hill tribe. Here we can visit with villagers who are going about their daily tasks. This village is also where we hop onto our raft of bamboo and float down the river. If lucky, we will catch some bathing buffaloes on the way. After arriving at our boat landing point, the 4x4 will be waiting for us again to bring us back to Chiang Mai city, where we will dine at next to the Ping River.

Day 8: Chiang Mai

After a relaxing morning, we start today's activities in the afternoon with a unique tour, highlighting the traditions and heritage of the ancient Lanna Kingdom. Travel to the outskirts of town to visit an herb garden. Enjoy the heady aromas of the exotic plants and learn how they are used in traditional Thai cooking. Then board a long tail boat for a half-hour cruise on the Mae Ping River. Relax and watch the passing scenery along the Mae Ping’s neighborhoods. Disembark near the city centre at Warorot Market. Packed with stalls, Warorot is a great place to mingle with the locals while searching for fresh fruits, spices or any of the other items on sale at this popular market. From Warorot, climb into a ‘samlor,’ a pedal-powered traditional rickshaw. Cruise through the streets of Chiang Mai, passing the ancient city walls and arriving at Wat Phra Singh, a tranquil and historic temple. Return to town and get and get ready for our final celebratory dinner to mark the end of our Pure Adventures holiday in Thailand!

    This is a supported cycling tour, your local Thai guides will be with you during all rides. You also have airport transfers included, but during free times you will be on your own to explore the cities and villages: Short Bio of one of our local guides: my name is Warodom (Dome) Kokhue.  I was born in Akha tribal village in Myanmar  but  grew  up  in  small  remote  town  in  the  Northernmost  of Thailand. Educated and ordained as a monk, "Dome" has since studied tourism and worked around the world. He is back showing off northern Thailand by bike to international visitors.
