DAY 2 - Ancient Inland Towns of Brac – West Side Loop; 0-30 km, Extra Ride 48 km

After a leisurely ferry cruise, you arrive to the largest island of the Central Dalmatian group of islands, the third largest among the Adriatic islands - Brac. The island is rich with historic sites dating back to Ancient Greece, the Middle Ages and of course, modern times. Today, there are over settlements on the island. Pedal to Sutivan, a fishermen settlement on the northern coast of Brac. After Sutivan, there is a climb and you pass through the picturesque village of Lozisca. Continue through the settlements in the interior, which are older, richer in culture, have historical monuments, and are much more interesting (architecturally) than the coastal ones.

Just before the last downhill to Supetar, pass through Nerezisca and Donji Humac, where we suggest a lunch break in a konoba, for traditional Mediterranean cuisine. If you are interested in the arts, we can gladly suggest a few of our favorite galleries and workshops, where you can see the stone masons working on their sculptures. If you wish to extend your ride, you can go for a coffee in Milna Village and see the beautiful, naturally protected bay full of boats and yachts.

Meals: breakfast
Distance: 0-30 km / 19 miles, extra ride 48 km / 30 miles
Highlights: Island Brac, Supetar, coastal ride and towns, ancient inland villages, wine cellar, art galleries
Overnight: Supetar, Island Brac

DAY 3 - Coastal Riding Along East Side of Brac; 0-36 km, Extra Ride 70km

Today you ride to the east side of the island. Following a quieter road along the scenic north-east coast, ride to Splitska. Here you will have views to the mainland throughout the ride. Stop in the town of Skrip, the oldest settlement on the island. After a visit to The Island Museum, pedal to the fishermen village of Postira. Then, continue on to Lovrecina, a sandy beach with ruins of a large, early Christian basilica from the 5th century. This might be a good time for a swim break! Continue to Pucisca, a charming little town, well known for its stone quarries. It was from here that their precious white stone was used to build Diocletian’s Palace in Split and The White House in Washington D.C. While there, you might also wish to visit one of the oldest Stone Cutting Schools in Europe and watch students carving in the same way as their ancestors.

DAY 4: Vidova Gora, Bol and Zlatni Rat Beach; 37-50 km

Your route and goal today is to reach the island’s summit, Vidova Gora. This lookout is known as the summit of the Adriatic and offers the most spectacular views. The highest peak of all of the Adriatic islands is Vidova Gora (778meters.) From here, you will have a breathless view of the slopes on the south side of the island, the town of Bol and the famous beach - Golden Cape (Zlatni Rat,) as well as the islands of Central Dalmatia. With such expansive views, even the Italian coast may be seen! Vidova Gora showcases many wonders of nature, including dense forest of authentic black pine trees, rich flora and fauna, and numerous caves and pits. There is an easier option, if you don’t feel like riding to highest point of the island.

Continue biking onward to Gornji Humac, where you must try some of the island's specialties before taking on a great downhill to Bol. Bol, the oldest coastal town on island Brac, is unlike other coastal towns which are located on amphitheatrically slopes of protected bays. Instead, it uniquely stands alone and is separated on the southern, open part of the island, with the beaches connected like a necklace of pearls. You may wish to explore the famous pebble beach of Zlatni Rat Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia.

Meals: breakfast
Distance: 37-50 km / 23-31 miles
Highlights: Zlatni Rat Beach in Bol, Vidova Gora - highest point of the Adriatic islands

DAY 5 - Lavender and Coastal Roads of Hvar; 30-45 km

Today, take a privately owned boat to cross the Hvar Channel to the fishermen's village of Jelsa, on island Hvar. Biking on island Hvar, you will pass by beautiful lavender fields, olive groves and vineyards. Ride along the scenic and mostly flat road on the north side of the island, passing by Jelsa and Vrboska, then reaching Stari Grad. Translating literally to Old Town, Stari Grad is the oldest settlement on the island and is one of the first in Europe, founded by the Ancient Greeks (Pharos.) After a few warm up miles, a challenging uphill climb waits for you, passing rosemary and lavender fields, and ancient Greek walls. Enjoy the beautiful view from the top of the island before a great downhill to Hvar. Tonight you sleep in Hvar town. As it is your last ride today, why not have few drinks in the ancient Piazza? Here, you will enjoy a view of 7th century AD walls, Venetian loggia and the oldest municipal theatre in Europe.

Meals: breakfast
Distance biked: 30-45 km / 19-25 miles
Highlights: island Hvar, Jelsa, Vrboska, Stari Grad, lavender fields, town Hvar
Overnight: Hvar, island Hvar

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TRANSFER FROM BOL TO JELSA (BRAC TO HVAR) IS OPERATED WITH SMALLER EXCURSION BOATS, WEATHER PERMITTING. IN CASE OF ROUGH SEAS, THE TRANSFER WILL NOT HAPPEN (FOR SAFETY REASONS) BUT WE WILL ORGANIZE AN ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION!

If it happens that you cannot take the boat ride to island Hvar, we will wait until afternoon to see if the sea gets calmer. If we know that conditions will remain unchanged, we can organize a transfer via Supetar and Split, and then by ferry to Stari Grad and/or to Hvar. In such cases (very rare!) Day 5 will be a no biking day. As of today, we have not been able to use this boat connection on one occasion. During summer season (July - August,) we only have approximately 5 bad weather days!
