Local Coordinator

Erik is a Colorado mountain dwelling recreational rider that spent 18 years guiding cycling tours in the Western US, Canada, Mexico and South America. He enjoys the sensations of speed and freedom generated on road and mountain bikes. Erik has a passion for the remoteness of the backcountry and the peace that those places offer. He believes the bicycle is a perfect tool to access the beauty of our natural sanctuaries. Over the course of the last two decades he has also been an Emergency Medical Technician, Wilderness First Responder, mountain bike skills instructor, bike mechanic, camp chef, professional commercial passenger driver, videographer, photographer and is fluent in Spanish. In the Winter, you will find him snowboarding or on a quest for backcountry powder on a split board.
On this trip, we are providing SAG support, not so much 'guiding' you along, leaving you to do more of your own time and route management. However, Erik, our local Colorado support team leader knows the cycling routes and cycling. Erik will provide SAG to keep you at ease with navigational backup help, refreshments, and the all important backup lift when CO weather can turn extreme quickly.

Bike rental options for this tour:
This is a road bike tour, even though a large part of the riding is on bike paths. Options for going off path exist and you will see the majority of users are on road bikes. The distances with the ups and downs will be better accomplished on a road bike leaving you less exhausted and ready to enjoy the remaining time in your day in these fun mountain towns. Note models may change slightly for 2018.

Pinarello Gan S: outfitted with Ultegra componentry, this is a slightly less rigid frame, thanks to a new type of high-strength carbon, which is slightly less stiff. The bike is also more forgiving for long days in the saddle. A recreational rider will appreciate the balance between Pinarello performance and a little more comfort. The Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels are as high of quality a wheel as you will find on a bike in this price range and the integrated ONDA fork more than meet the needs of most riders. Pinarello Gan S specs

Pinarello Dogma F10: ultimate in a road bike machine and is the bike used by the venerable Sky Team. Dogma F10 specs

Giant road bikes: TCR Advanced Pro 1 | Defy Advanced Pro 1 | Women's specific Avail Advanced Pro 1 or similar for 2018.

All these demo road bikes have carbon wheels and come with repair kits: spare tube, tire levers, and CO2. All Bikes above were new in 2017; some change over for 2019 anticipated. Pedals and helmets are very limited and we request that you bring your own.

2019 Rental Rates: all bikes are $85/day except the F10 which is $100/day. 5 days rental from orientation to bike return.
