Day 1: Arrival in Monpazier

Monpazier is a small medieval town, which has hardly changed over the last 700 years. Built in 1284 on the orders of King Edward I as a “bastide," a fortified town, one can still see houses out of that period. The medieval central market square is a gem and is often used as a set for historic movie shoots. Monpazier is member of the “plus beaux villages de France,” an organization of the “most beautiful villages of France." Depending on your arrival time, you will be welcomed by our local representative, who will go over all the details of the week with you. He will also get you fitted to your bikes, answering any questions you might have about the tour ahead, providing recommendations on his favorite things to see. If you are arriving later in the day, the welcome/orientation will be organized after breakfast on Day 2.

Meals: dinner - 3 course dinner in gourmet Restaurant Eléonore

Local Coordinator

Mathilde and Arjan:

Mathilde: Born and raised in South West of France, one of my passions in life is to share the beauty of my country and how much the life is sweeter here. As many of the French, during my childhood holidays we traveled everywhere in my own country, and I would like to say that I can tell you anything about it, but that’s the thing with France… there are always other beautiful places still to be discovered, as well as beautiful people, and obviously cheese and wine! I would like to share the beautiful places in France, I’ve already discovered, with you.

Arjan: Arjan Capelle It’s no coincidence that since 20 years I live in the most visited country of the world. The diversity of the country, its cultural heritage, the gastronomical delights and its proud habitants make me feel so much at home. As a hotelier by schooling and trade I try to give all this to my guests, France has it all!
