Day 1 | Arrival Day; Transfer Lisbon to Algarve

Arriving at Lisbon by airport or train station, we will transfer you to your first hotel, a very nice guest house in Odeceixe, near the beach. (3 hr drive). We come to meet you and deliver the tour bikes, and go over the tour with a short orientation of this scenic coastal bike ride. Take your time after orientation to explore the town and enjoy dinner on your own. If you would like to arrive a day prior to help with jet lag, we can recommend and book extra nights in Lisbon.

Day 2 | Bike from Odeceixe to Aljezur - 53km

Start the day going to one of the most beautiful scenery of this coast - Odeceixe beach! Leave the seaside and cycle to the Monchique Hills –the highest mountain in Algarve with its green hills full of wildflowers, chestnut trees, eucalyptus and cork oaks. You will visit a typical interior village –Marmelete. Then continue by a nice road and go down to the village of Aljezur. (B) Total distance: 53km, +800m, mostly paved routes; with off pavement sections.

Day 3 | Loop Ride - Beaches & Villages - 60km

After breakfast at your leisure, you get back to riding for another day on the bike. Starting with a ride to a beautiful beach at Amoreira!. Then follow a valley where once caravels sailed back to the village of Aljezur and go up the narrow streets through typical houses and get up to the medieval castle of Aljezur! Follow the winding road that sweeps down from the cliff tops to the sea where you will find a stunning beach side village at Monte Clérigo. Return to Aljezur. (B)

Day 4 | Bike from Aljezur to Pedralva – 45 km

When you are ready to saddle up, you can go at your leisure. Your ride starts out with some nice forest roads and then takes you back to the coast and the lovely village of Carrapateira, You continue along the beaches with lovely views from the cliff tops. Your ride then continues back into forests, quiet routes, and brings you to an old village and your recently restored hotel in the town of Pedralva. (B)
Total distance: 45km, +750m, 100% paved routes; and a slightly more challenging day. There are off road options.

Day 5 | Bike from Pedralva to Sagres – 40km

Cycle again close to sea and then your route takes you slightly inland up a few steep hills as you leave the coast. Continue south with the coast just in the distance toward the southwestern tip of the Algarve and the the most southwestern point in Continental Europe, on the Cape Sao Vicente. Lodging in Sagres in a 4* new hotel over the sea, surrounded by stunning deserted beaches. Dinner on your own. (B)

Day 6 | Bike from Sagres to Lagos - 49km

Last cycling day, and with a beautiful and scenic ride by the sea passing by some typical old piscatorial villages you enter in to the more populated part of the Algarve. You will pass by Salema, an old fishing village nested in a secluded bay, surrounded by dramatic sun baked ochre cliffs. Burgau is another beautiful village over the sea where we can still see the fishermen fixing their fishing nets. Beautiful beaches and Ponta da Piedade where we can find fantastic sceneries of cliffs, caves and rocks with an amazing mixture of colours, will make this an unforgettable journey with a deluxe and comfortable hotel awaiting. Level 3 : Moderate to Fit rating - flat to rolling countryside; average 49 km per day. Unpaved sections are not technical but can be bumpy and sometimes loose. The more scenic and peaceful route is the version using some smooth dirt roads to ride along the coast where cars don't go.
