Private Guided Costa Rice: Rainforest, Jungle & Beaches Multi-Sport Tour! This route is a true highlight reel of Costa Rica! It is inspired by the most adventurous kind of experiences, with visits to the most iconic and popular destinations of Costa Rica: the tropical rainforest of Arenal and the beautiful beaches of Guanacaste! Hike through two incredible and diverse national parks; visit volcanos, waterfalls, and natural thermal hot springs; zip through the sky on the country’s longest zip line system; enjoy sky blue waters, waterfall canyoning, secluded beach time, and more! This tour is based on the central and north pacific sides of the country, taking you to two of our favorite regions. Activities are fairly light but do require a general level of fitness and health. Our multi-sport tour through Costa Rica is perfect for families!

This tour starts and finishes at Guanacaste Airport (LIR,) with all other transportation included.

Need to Know: 

  • These activities are moderately rated but not difficult; they require overall good fitness and health. Any health conditions should be discussed prior to booking.
  • December-April is a great time to visit. We also recommend the “green season,” which is May to June & November, with more rainfall but increased wildlife and fewer crowds. Learn more!
  • This tour is private guided, which means it will only be your group with our guide. For the zip line and canyoning only, you may join a very small group.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival Day & Transfer to Arenal Volcano

Welcome to beautiful Costa Rica! Today starts with a meet and greet with our guide, who will pick you up from LIR airport. From here, we will make our way to Arenal. Depening on your arrival time, we can do a water transfer on Arenal Lake instead of driving the road to Arenal. Tonight, get settled in at your cozy and tropical hotel, where you will enjoy dinner on your own (not included.)

Meals: snacks, water & beer (granola bars, plantain chips)
Duration: 2.5 hours drive time from LIR
Overnight: Arenal

Day 2Rainforest Zip Line & Arenal Volcano National Park

After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, we will meet at 8:00 am to head out for a fun morning of zip lining. This zip line course is the longest zip line in Costa Rica, consisting of an aerial tram and seven different zip lines, covering 4 km! Take in the gorgeous views, including those of Arenal Volcano and Arenal Lake! For this activity, you will join a small group (total ~10 ppl.) This afternoon, we will make our way into Arenal National Park for an easy to moderate 5 km loop hike. During our hike, you will have a completely different view point of the volcano, which has a perfect cone shape. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife – we will point out the many species that inhabit the area, as well a the unique centenary trees and indigenous plants. This is jungle life firsthand! The terrain here can be wet, rocky, and muddy, depending on the weather. Lastly, we can do a visit to the beautiful La Fortuna Waterfall – we highly recommend doing so, as it is the perfect place for a swim and fantastic photo op!

Day 3Canyoning, Waterfalls & Thermal Hot Springs

This morning starts at 8:00 AM, so that we can head out on an exciting canyoning adventure! This special canyoning tour takes you through four different waterfalls. Using rappelling equipment and the expertise of our guide, descend into waterfall and jump into cool and refreshing pools! This is an exhilerating experience and a highlight of our time in Costa Rica. This afternoon takes us in a tasty direction, as we learn more about something else that Arenal and La Fortuna are most known for: chocolate! With our special chocolate farm visit, you have the opportunity to learn and taste about the cocoa production process, which is so deeply-steeped in history, tradition, and culture. A tasting is included, of course! The afternoon has a little bit of free time, before heading to a the natural thermal hot springs in the early evening. This particular hot springs is a natural hot water river with several different pools of water for you to enjoy. Relax, have a drink, and recover from an active and exhilarating day! Dinner at the hot springs is included.

Day 4Arenal to Guanacaste & Rio Celeste National Park

After breakfast this morning, it is time to head out, leaving beautiful Arenal behind. Making our way to Guanacaste (3.5 hrs driving,) we will include a stop at the gorgeous Rio Celeste National Park. This iconic and beautiful park is located at the foothills of Tenorio Volcano. At this particular spot, you will find that two rivers join, creating a unique spot where the water turns bright blue! We can do a hike here and visit the bright blue waters and its waterfall. Before continuing on to Guanacaste, we will stop for lunch at a favorite rainforest cafe (included.)

Day 5Free Day - Guanacaste

Today is a day that is yours, ie. a “free day.” We understand that with a lot of movement on tours, sometimes it is nice to have a day to just stop and chill. There are plenty of options for you to choose from today if you wish to be active: kayaking, SUP, mountain biking, hiking, and more! (Rental of any equipment is not included.) Or, just enjoy the beach and play in the waves!

Day 6Guanacaste Beach-hopping (or Mtn Biking) & Closing Dinner

Today is a fun day, as we “beach hop” with the best local expert – your guide! This is a chance to explore several of the area’s secluded beaches and rural towns. Today is flexible and we can cater to what you’re interested in, stopping at local restaurants, shops, and/or scenic lookouts. If you prefer, we can offer an alternative today: mountain biking along some of the areas secluded beaches, ending your ride on a beach with drinks and snacks. What a great way to explore Guanacaste!

Tonight, we have a very special dinner planned for you at one of our favorite restaurants. The chef is a dear friend of ours, and his cuisine is well-known in the area. It is the perfect example of traditional and exceptional Costa Rican food that is elevated to the level of international cuisine.

Day 7Departure Day

After breakfast, your adventures through Costa Rica come to an end. Your transfer to LIR Airport is included (1 hr driving.) We hope you enjoyed your time in beautiful Costa Rica!

  • Cancellation after tour confirmation: 50% of the deposit is withheld.
  • Cancellation 90-61 days prior to arrival: deposit + 50% of the total trip cost is withheld.
  • Cancellation 60-31 days prior to arrival: deposit, any hotel & airline fees may apply, and 75% of the total trip cost is withheld.
  • Cancellation within 30 days prior to arrival: 100% of the trip cost is nonrefundable.

Recommended Gratuities on Guided Tours:

  • Even though tips are not mandatory in Costa Rica, tips are always greatly appreciated by everyone involved in the experience. 10% to 20% is a customary amount. 
  • On every activity we do, there will be people assisting and helping. Usually, there is a tip box at each place where clients can leave tips there or give them directly to them.
  • Regarding your main tour guide, they can be tipped at the end of the trip. We recommend budgeting $300-400 per person, in total.
