Ecuador is mountains, and not any mountains – volcanoes – as well as mighty rivers, the ocean, the Amazon rain forest, indigenous peoples, delicious and fresh cuisine, with plenty of international flair. This ‘mainland Ecuador’ tour explores some of the top highlights, beginning with the high-elevation capital city of Quito, where you arrive. From there it is an odyssey of mountains, rivers, biking, hiking, canyoning, and more and more adventures. Bike in the cloud forest, go canyoning and paddle in the Amazon jungle, learn about the nature of some of the richest ecosystems on Earth and experience the culture of true indigenous people that have amazing stories to tell. Gratuities: As with any guided tour, it is the numerous guides and local experts that make your tour so special. We recommend estimating US $25-35 per person, per day. This can be paid either in advance of travel if you do not want to worry about it on your vacation, or in one lump sum at the end of your tour. All tipping is at the customers’ discretion and based on experience.

We had an amazing time on our trip with Pure Adventures. It was quite active but Dean and I were able to accomplish all the tasks and didn’t have a problem keeping up with the group. Those good Colorado workouts paid off!
It would be hard to determine what activity we enjoyed most. All the hikes were great, biking in the clouds was a special experience, river rafting, going up the waterfalls was tough but we all cheered each other on to accomplishment. The hotels offered variety and we all bonded with the shared bathrooms at the one in the rain forest. I felt that, due to the activity level needed for this trip, that everyone got along well, shared with each other and were respectful of each other. There weren’t any “divas” and lots of hugs and positive vibes.
We had such a great guide, keeping us busy, always with a new adventure. He was lots of fun and very professional. Worked the group to make sure all felt included and helpful when needed. He shared with us the local fruit and food (yes, I tried guinea pig), the diversity of the itinerary and what needed to be done for the following day. Great guy and guide. We are so happy that we did this trip – thank you, Pure Adventures!!!
We took our two teenagers on this trip and it was the perfect trip for our family. Everything was planned to meet our needs, the activities were so much fun (eye opening) and the kids had a blast, guides and transportation were knowledgeable and fun. Pure adventures handled all details for us making this trip just right for us, which we really appreciated. Family vacations can be hard to plan but this was easy and we would recommend to anyone interested in the area.
