Day 1Arrival to Lima & Traditional Peruvian Dinner

Your Peru Private Machu Picchu Adventure Tour Begins! Upon arrival in Lima, our local guide will greet you at the airport and arrange a private transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to relax or explore at your own pace, depending on your arrival time. This evening, indulge in an traditional Peruvian dining experience we’ve planned just for you! Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Peruvian gastronomy, setting the tone for an unforgettable journey. Our expert guide will take you to one of our favorite restaurants, renowned for its authentic Peruvian cuisine. There, the chef will craft three iconic dishes, providing detailed insights into the ingredients and preparation process. Each dish will be exquisitely plated for you to enjoy, offering the perfect start to your adventure!

Day 2Lima to Cusco & Chocolate Experience

The day begins with a transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco! Upon arrival, our local guide will warmly welcome you and escort you to your hotel. As Cusco is situated at a higher elevation, today’s activities are designed to be fun yet relaxed. Known for producing some of the finest cacao in the world, Cusco is the perfect place to immerse yourself in a chocolate-making class. During this hands-on experience, you’ll prepare a variety of chocolates, choosing from up to 15 unique local flavors, including Andean mint and chili. You’ll gain insights into every step of the process, from harvesting and roasting the cacao beans to refining them into a smooth chocolate paste. The experience concludes with a delightful cup of hot chocolate—the best you’ve ever had—a beloved treat in Peru, especially during the festive season.

Day 3The Sacred Valley: Maras & Moray by Bike

Today, we embark on an exciting mountain biking journey through the breathtaking Sacred Valley, designed for riders of all ages and skill levels. The route features a variety of manageable sections that guide us through the day’s adventure.

Starting in Chinchero at an elevation of 12,343 feet, we’ll gradually descend, passing through charming villages and soaking in sweeping views of the high Andean plains and majestic surrounding mountains. Highlights of the day include the captivating Inca ruin of Moray with its unique concentric circular terraces; the quaint town of Maras, known for its striking blue doors; enriching visits with local artisans and sampling chicha, a traditional drink made from fermented corn; the stunning UNESCO-recognized salt flats of Maras; and the historic Tarabamba Bridge, the last surviving Inca suspended bridge in the world. At the end of the day, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel to relax and unwind.

Those not wanting to bike can opt for a half-day (~5 hrs) ATV visit. Please inquire for details.

Day 4The Markets & Traditional Flavors of Cusco

Your day begins with a warm welcome from the chef who will guide you through today’s private culinary experience. Next, you’ll visit the vibrant and lively San Pedro Market, one of the best markets in Cusco, renowned for its incredible selection of fruits, vegetables, meats, and handicrafts. As you explore, you’ll learn about various ingredients and their uses, while collaborating on the menu for the day.

The journey continues at the restaurant, where you’ll dive into preparing a local, seasonal Andean dish under the chef’s expert instruction. Finally, enjoy the rewarding experience of savoring the delicious meal you’ve just created! The afternoon is yours to relax or to explore Cusco’s historic city center at your leisure.

Day 5The Treasures of the Sacred Valley: Pisac & Ollantaytambo

This morning, we embark on an adventure through the Sacred Valley, visiting its charming traditional villages and renowned Inca archaeological sites. As we descend to the valley floor, you’ll travel alongside the sacred Urubamba River and pass through the picturesque village of Pisac. Here, we’ll make a brief stop at an artisan market before heading up to explore the stunning ruins. During a privately guided tour, you’ll learn about the temples, intricate carvings, and altars, as well as their historical significance.

Our journey continues to Urubamba, where we’ll visit the impressive archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. Once home to a royal Inca emperor, this site boasts magnificent ruins, including the Temple of the Sun with its masterful stonework, alongside remarkable examples of Inca agricultural and irrigation systems. The final stop of the day is colorful Chinchero, where we’ll admire its famous church and the imposing Inca stone wall in the main plaza. With breathtaking snowcapped mountains as its backdrop, this town is truly idyllic!

Day 6Scenic Train to Aguas Calientes & Private Machu Picchu Experience

This morning, we set off bright and early! You’ll head to the train station to begin your scenic 2-hour journey to Aguas Calientes (on your own). This leg of the trip is truly a highlight, as the train winds through beautiful landscapes of rivers, rolling hills, and dramatic canyons.

Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted by our local representative and take a bus that zigzags its way up to Machu Picchu for a privately guided tour of this extraordinary archaeological complex. The guided experience lasts around 2 hours and includes key locations such as the House of the Guardian, Intihuatana, Temple of the Sun, Sacred Plaza, and more!

After exploring Machu Picchu, we’ll return by bus to Aguas Calientes for some well-deserved relaxation. You may wish to visit the thermal hot springs for a soothing dip (~$8) or explore the town’s colorful markets, brimming with handmade Peruvian artisan goods.

Day 7Free Day: Aguas Calientes or 2nd Machu Picchu Visit

This morning is a free day and you have 3 options:

1.) Take the day to relax and enjoy the hot springs of Agua Calientes.
2.) Pre-book an early morning visit to Machu Picchu to enjoy sunrise over the mountains and citadel.
3.) Return to the complex to hike Huayna Picchu, a scenic trail that is a bucket list trail for many! This hiking trail takes you to the top of Huayna Picchu (the iconic mountain behind Machu Picchu), and at the summit you get to see original Inca buildings and epic panoramic views. This is one of the best photo-opps of Machu Picchu! Nicknamed the “Machu Picchu Stairs of Death,” this 2 hour self-guided hike is actually quite safe.

Day 8Departure Day: Farewell to Peru
